Biography
Physical Therapy: A Love Story

I started on my Physical Therapy journey at the age of 12 years old. My mom encouraged my sister and I to choose careers in middle school and then required us to research them and volunteer in related businesses to confirm if our choice was suitable for us. I chose Physical Therapy. Looking back on it, I am not sure what influenced my choice. However, I am so grateful that I I chose Physical Therapy. It is the best career in the world (but maybe I am biased).

I am from Charleston, South Carolina and graduated from the College of Charleston with Honors. In 2013, I graduated with my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. I immediately started a Functional Manual Therapy (FMT) residency with the Institute of Physical Art in Richmond, Virginia. I passed the rigorous 8 day Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) exam in 2015. I continued to train the FMT residents in Richmond, Virginia for a couple of years before accepting a position as Clinic Director at Vardan Physiotherapy Centre in New Delhi, India. After 6 days in India, I met Stefan Vincent. He proposed on the last day of a 9 day motocycle trip through the Himalayas. We had a fabulous Indian wedding 4 months later.
I greatly enjoyed teaching and training about 25 therapists at the Vardan clinic for 3 years. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and the world changed. I was in the USA visiting family when travel to India for all foreigners was discontinued. Fortunately, the Institute of Physical Art (IPA) offered a very prestigious fellowship position to me during this time. From 2020 through 2021, I dedicated all of my time to the Fellowship accredited by the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT). This fellowship dramatically changed my clinical reasoning. It is the best decision of my career.
During the fellowship, I discovered a passion for respiratory manual physical therapy. The concept was accepted for the AAOMPT national conference in 2021 where I presented as a lead speaker. I later conducted a webinar with the American Academy of Physiologic Medicine and Dentistry (AAPMD) and was interviewed by the AAOMPT for a podcast regarding respiratory manual physical therapy. In 2022, I was invited by the AAPMD to present on Ocular Manual Therapy: A Vision for Enhancing Posture and Respiration.

I have a passion for physical therapy and learning. I treasure my patients, but I will be some combination of a teacher and student for my entire life.
